Goodbye! and Update

Hello everyone! With the summer moving by quickly, I thought it would be prudent to post an update regarding the club coming into the 2008-2009 academic year! Your leadership will be a group of fantastic people, two of which have a cumulative 12 years of experience in Model United Nations! You elected:

President: Jason Clopper
Vice-President: Sarah Worley
Vice-President of Training: Whitney Thompson
Student Advisor: Sasha Sleiman

This fall the team is planning on attending the Northwest Model United Nations Conference which will be held in Seattle, WA in early November!

As the founder of the club, I just want to say that I am so, so proud of how far we came and so excited to see/hear where you all go. I feel honored to have worked with all of you, and I hope you continue growing into global citizens in the coming years through Model United Nations at WWU. Good luck next year!

- Kristina

Next Meeting…. January 28, 2008

Our next meeting will be January 28 at 7:30 pm in VU 714.

We need a final answer from all delegate on the following two issues:

1. Oregon State Model United Nations (OSUMUN)

We need a 100% commitment on your attendance to OSUMUN by this meeting. The conference is February 15-17 in Corvallis, OR, and will cost $75. You will miss one day of school for the conference. Payment for the conference is due Monday, February 4th, after which there will be no refunds, because we will have already paid for your fees and the hotel. If you don’t tell us by this date, unfortunately we cannot guarantee you a spot on the team….

2. National Model United Nations (NMUN)

We need a 100% commitment on whether or not you are willing and able to attend NMUN by this meeting as well. The conference is April 22-26 in New York, NY, and will cost around $150. This does not mean that you will be guaranteed a spot, but if we decide to give you one, you will not be able to back out after this date without a monetary penalty.

Other items on the agenda:

1. Election of the OSUMUN Head Delegate

2. OSUMUN Country/Committee Assignments

Thank you!
